Saying “Yes”

Light Shining Into Woods

Light Shining Into Woods

“When we learn to say a deep, passionate yes to the things that really matter, then peace begins to settle onto our lives like golden sunlight sifting to a forest floor.”
– Thomas Kinkaide, artist

Leave it to an artist to say something so profound yet simple. Thomas Kinkaide points out in a beautiful way that when we get our priorities right, the stress leaves our lives and we have a clarity that brings peace.

Things that really matter to me:
1) God
2) Family
3) Freedom
4) Creativity

Take a few moments and think about what really matters to you.

Now think about ways to say ‘yes’ to more of these things in your life.

Why I Love Christmas

Sweet Faces at Christmas Time

Sweet Faces at Christmas Time

Snow flakes drifting lazily down from the sky.
The thermometer reading 35 degrees.
My daughter participating in a small town parade.
Christmas music blaring from department store speakers.
Stores crowed with shoppers.
Traffic.
All these signs signal that the Christmas season is upon us.

But the real reason I love Christmas time has nothing to do with all those things. It is summed up in one word: Hope.

Why hope?

Because this is the time of year when people wish each other Merry Christmas and to be of good cheer. A time when good will is in fashion and smiles abound.

It is a time to hope in the good of humanity.
A hope that stems from a tiny baby lying in a manager.
A baby that brought hope to the world.
A hope of peace, joy and salvation.

Remember this hope as you go about the busyness of the holiday season.

The real reason for the joy in these cold days—that God became man in the shape of a baby that grew up to sacrifice for us so we could have eternal life.

Now that is a hope that brings a smile of gratitude to my face and true joy to my heart.

A Fresh Start

Budding Orchid

This is my new blog, my first post, a brand new endeavor for me. Living a creative life, living a life for God, being inspired and inspiring others can be challenging, but I think this is what we are called to do.

My intention with this blog is be the spark that ignites hearts to bloom in God’s truth and beauty.

Growth is life. Without it there is only death. God wants us to have life and have it abundantly. In other words He wants us to bloom. He is God our Creator. He intends for us to create a life from the gift of life he has given us.

My purpose is to create a place here that will challenge you to discover and grow in God’s truth and beauty, that will touch your heart and inspire you, that will help you to put more Magic Moments in your life, to remind you of God’s truth and how you can live that truth in your life, to show the beauty of God’s creation through photographs and artwork, and to inspire you to use your gifts and talents to live a life of abundant adventure.

Come with me on this journey of dreaming, creating, and growing in the knowledge of God and in learning to design a creative and joyful life for yourself and those you love–in essence–to BLOOM!
