Meet Deborah

Welcome to the Simple Art of Grace.

I’m Deborah and I am a Jesus girl. I have lived all over the United States and now call Kentucky my home.

I am pursuing a life of simplicity in the hope that I can love God better and have more time to creatively live.

I have loved art and beautiful thing all my life. I started drawing at a very young age. My love for photography arrived in the form of a digital camera in 2004 that I was able to use as part of my job at Western Kentucky University. When I graduated from Western Kentucky University in May of 2005 with a B.A. in Visual Arts and a concentration in Graphic Design, I bought a camera with my graduation money and have been shooting ever since.

My inspiration comes from God’s beautiful handiwork that is evidenced in the natural world and in the faces of the familiar and not so familiar people all around me. Many of the photos come from my mission trips to Haiti—though a ravaged place, the people are beautiful in face and spirit. In fact, three of my photographs of the Haitian people have garnered first place awards in the U.S. Bank Art Show in past years.

I hope you enjoy my work and become inspired as you see God’s beauty and truth through my eyes.

Numbers 6: 24-25
“The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you
And be gracious to you;
The Lord turn His face toward you
And give you peace.”

Blessings,
